Seriously though, I am a horrible person and have been for a year or so now, I feel like I’m on self destruct mode.

If this is just a period in my life I need to get through, how do I do that without wrecking everything and ending up with nothing.

I feel a distant shadow of myself.

Ive had to wait 7 weeks for a doctor appointment to discuss it, 3 weeks left to go…..

Have a look at the We Do Not Care Club on youtube. It might make you feel a lot better to find out that you are very much not alone!

Thank you! I’ll check them out.

7 weeks is a very long wait. I’m trained as a Menopause Champion at work and have lived experienced too. Please take the time to:

  1. list your symptoms
  2. keep a menopause diary of when/how these occur
  3. read up on/listen to/watch all things menopause - Davina or Mariella are great
  4. look at the medications/interventions and think about what you may want/route you’d like to take
  5. Take someone with job to the spot who can have a list of what you want to talk about and take notes

You are not a horrible person, you’re experiencing menopause and it can be tough.

It’s difficult. I’ve had two serious meltdowns this summer. I’ve twice apologised to my husband and once to a colleague. It’s scary and you are not alone. Sending support. 🌷

You are far from alone. I’m the same and I was behaving this way for a long time before I realised what it was.

I’m 4 months into hrt and 3 weeks into citalopram. Hrt is definitely working - waiting on the citalopram.

one thing i didn’t know was that to take hrt I need to have a coil fitted and that slowed things down. I have no problem getting a gp appointment but getting a coil fitted took 4 weeks. If this is something you need get on that now.

You do need progesterone for HRT unless you've had a hysterectomy, but it doesn't have to be the Mirena coil (though mine has been very convenient). They could for example have put you on oral progesterone while you waited for a coil fitting.

OP I think setting firm boundaries can help - don't wait until you're about to explode before saying no.

Moving your body more can really help with mood - there have been many times when getting out for a run has saved me from an outburst I would have regretted! HRT should help when you get to it, but even when you're on it but don't neglect making life changes.

Keep a list of everything mine was pages and pages long as I was scared they were going to fob me off with depression. When the male GP saw my list he was so sympathetic I couldn’t believe it turns out his wife was having the same issues. Am so grateful to finding this man! He referred me to a menopause clinic and I was put on the patches.
