Had my first discussion with a gp yesterday who has sent me lots of information on perimenopause. I’m 52 and have the mirena coil so no idea what stage I’m at.
So far having issues with sleep, night sweats, weight gain, loss of libido.
Gp sent me info on hrt, natural products to help. He said I would need oestrogen as coil is the progesterone. He questioned vaginal dryness.
He suggested if I need more info to contact HRT specialist at the doctors. He said they no longer test for menopause but also as I have the coil we don’t know when it will happen. Haven’t had a period since I have been on it - had it due to heavy periods and fibroids which had to be removed 4 years ago.
He was very informative of the risks of HRT but at the same time said it’s not been used enough!!!
Now to decide what to do.

I can't recommend HRT enough. I still have some symptoms but they're nowhere near as bad as before. There are long term benefits too for heart and bone health

If you are experiencing vaginal dryness, I really recommend vaginal oestrogen cream. You use this as well as your systemic oestrogen (gel or patches). It's an excellent local treatment for genito-urinary symptoms of peri
