Questions after Mirena coil insertion

I had a Mirena coil fitted last week (11 days ago) as part of my HRT. Sorry I have lots of questions. I have had intermittent bleeding, some days none or small amount of spotting other days light bleeding mainly when wiping. I know this is normal and can take a few months to settle. I was due my period this week - it is normally fairly regular if anything it has been starting earlier rather than later. I have been feeling like I am on my period but bleeding remains very light. How do I know if it’s my period or bleeding from the coil settling? Or is there no real way of knowing. If this is my period I will be happy as normally heavy and painful.
I am still getting some cramping normally later on in the day but not particularly painful just noticeable is this is normal or again could this is related to my period. I tried finding the strings but couldn’t reach them I will have another try at some point is this something others have found hard to find or should I be worried.

It all sounds fairly normal to me. Why are you trying to find the strings?
I had what you’re describing for approximately 3 months off and on then light bleeding when my period was due, eventually tapering off to nothing after about a year! Best thing I ever did 👍

I never even tried to find the strings. I’m absolutely sure if it had fallen out you’d have noticed! I had spotting every day for around 4 months, then less frequently for a further 2 months then nothing ever again. Mirena was my saviour!!!

You are so lucky you can't touch the stings. Means your uterus is where it should be! Mine is prolapsed and by bedtime is two knuckles down my middle finger to my cervix!!!

Sounds normal to me. It does take months though. I knew it was my period because I also had cramps. And the insertion cramps can last weeks.

I thought I had to feel for the stings once per month, I will leave well alone then if not needed.

No leave them be xx Hopefully it’ll settle soon but it can take time x Worth it though for most - I know some people it doesn’t suit them but it did me xx
