Forgot my HRT on holiday - now lethargic and tired after restarting

I forgot to take my Evorel patches (I’m on 75mg changed twice weekly) on holiday and so I didn’t use them for about 10 days. Now I’m back and feel sluggish, tired and like my limbs are weighed down. Is this likely due to stopping and then restarting the patches or something else?

Post holiday blues?

SodThisHeadache · 30/07/2026 09:53

Yes it probably is. Show you that the HRT is doing something!
Of course it's possible you caught a virus on the flight or something else, but if you need HRT then stopping it will make you feel worse for a while. 10 days is a long time in those circumstances.

Just wondering if you are not hundred percent committed to the HRT? If I had forgotten to take mine on holiday I would panic, and make sure I got to a pharmacy and got some - you can do this is foreign countries.

How long have you been on it? And how long since you restarted ? (it will take a while for the hormone levels to build back up)

Edited for clarity

It didn’t occur to me to get hold of emergency supplies tbh. I started it 6 months ago and wasn’t wholly convinced it was making a massive difference except to the brain fog which was a bit better but certainly not a magic bullet.

Feeling less heavy today, other than having had a crap night’s sleep and having to go back to work today.

Are you also taking progesterone? And did you carry on on holiday?

If so, you are basically having progesterone PMT.

Doodledoggle · 31/07/2026 06:16

Also when I took progesterone (switched to coil) it was horrific and I felt constantly tired and lethargic (plus suicidally depressed!)

I imagine without my 100mcg oestrogen patch, my mirena would make me feel like that too.

SodThisHeadache · 31/07/2026 06:45

I read this as it being a combined oestrogen/progesterone patch.

I think the combined patch only comes in 50mcg version.

Ah, thanks @JinglingSpringbells

So yes, seems she's on Evorel oestrogen only 75mg, and ? prog (what type and whether taking during the holiday unknown)
