Evorel 50 - how long?

Emas82 · 26/07/2026 10:08

Before I start, I realise I'm sounding impatient! I just like to know about others experiences.

I've just started evorel 50 patches, I'm on my 2nd one. I have a Mirena for progesterone.

How long did it take people to start to feel a difference, positive or negative?

My main peri symptoms are night sweats, mind fog, tiredness and the occasional bit of rage! No periods as I've had the Mirena for a long time, so haven't been able to track any differences on that front.

Thank you 😊

Not what you want to hear but we are all different .... A year of gel and patches made no difference. Now on tablets and I usually sleep through now, but brain fog is unreal, mood swings awful (fluoxetine helps me) and I'm too hot most of the time.

MemorableLlama · 26/07/2026 10:34

I put my first patch on on a Friday and felt better by the Monday.

THNG5 · 26/07/2026 10:39

There's not one answer to this. 50 did nothing for me but had to give it 3 months before the nurse upped my dose to 100. They worked for 18 months but now new symptoms have appeared and I've switched to the gel.

Doodledoggle · 26/07/2026 10:46

My symptoms went within a fortnight on Everol 50, then returned within a few weeks, so went to 75, worked for a few weeks and then went to 100. From start of 50, to change to 100 was four months.

Super supportive GP who didn't make me wait three months between each change. It was clear that oestrogen was helping, just that it wasn't enough.

I did then still have sweats occasionally on 100, still do. But they are rare. I've been at this level for nearly 4yrs. Also with a Mirena and testosterone and vaginal oestrogen cream.

It was a battle for me with my GP. As I'm 43 she wanted to rule out literally everything else that could be causing my night sweats before she even entertained the idea of hrt!

Sounds like a mixed bag, I'll just see how things go. Thanks all

I noticed a difference to my sleep within the first couple of weeks.

But I was 54 and already 2 years post menopause so very different from your stage.

Hope it kicks in for you soon.

painthisbathroom · 26/07/2026 13:33

I noticed a difference within a few months, mainly in my emotions, less rage and anxiety. I take omega 3s and creatine to help with brain fog and ferrous sulphate for tiredness, didn't notice a difference in those areas from the Evorel 50.

I was 43 too and after blood tests, which showed painfully low ferritin, the GP suggested HRT to me. She had already diagnosed me with severe vaginal atrophy and prolapse so it wasn't a big leap!

I thought the everol and everol conti patches include progesterone?

I use Everol. No progesterone in mine, I have a Mirena for progesterone.

Emas82 · 28/07/2026 08:27

Yeah I think there's a few different types. The Evorel I have is deffo just oestrogen.

6 weeks for me on everol 50 and everol sequi

MagpiePi · 28/07/2026 08:38

I’m sure I felt improvements within a few days.

I quite quickly went up to 100mcg and had a GP who let me get on with finding the right dose. I’ve tried going down to 75 as the menopause specialist at my surgery thinks 100 is ‘a big dose’ but I got night sweats starting again almost immediately so 100 is the right dose for me.

Stand your ground and get a higher dose. You can always drop it down again if it’s not right.

My only issue was joint pain. Terrible, limp inducing joint pain where I struggled to even get my socks on and felt about 900 years old so a bit different from you OP.

I started on the Monday and by the end of the week all joint pain had gone never to return which was amazing.

Over the months I also noticed I felt happier, less tired and after about 6-8 months my libido suddenly increased to the level it was in my youth.

Emas82 · 28/07/2026 11:03

I'm hoping for some libido improvement too.

Not sure it's related but the last 4 or so nights I've had to get up for a wee during the night. I generally slept through before (since I started taking magnesium about 18 months ago, life changer!)

About 4 days for mood and hot flushes. Didn't help with atrophy or libido much, though.

MagpiePi · 28/07/2026 13:22

Anecdotally, my libido goes up on the nights I use Vagifem.

BeachAndSea · 28/07/2026 13:30

Do Everol patches come in doses above 50? I thought above 50 it was separate gel and pills?

There are 3 types of Evorel patches:

  • Evorel - oestrogen only
  • Evorel Sequi - seqential/cyclical regime where you have 2 weeks (4 patches) of oestrogen only, then 2 weeks (4 patches) of combined oestrogen and progesterone patches
  • Evorel Conti - continuous regime where every patch contains both oestrogen and progesterone

@Emas82 it can take from days to many weeks for women to notice any significant benefit. I don't rush through dosing as it can depend on the woman and what symptoms she's having, as well as possible side effects. I usually say you should expect to notice something within a month.

No, I use a 100mcg patch. It takes up most of my bottom cheek!

What change did you find when you went up to 100?
is this two weeks sequi and two weeks conti ?

everol 50 has only really got rid of irritability (thankfully) but brain fog is shocking. I don’t really sweat either but didn’t before.

Doodledoggle · 28/07/2026 14:39

@BeachAndSea it finally stopped the night sweats. And I was in a much more even mood.

No use at all for brain fog. Imo, nothing helps there. Even testosterone made no difference.

Doodledoggle · 28/07/2026 14:39

Oh and it's just oestrogen. I have the Mirena for progesterone.

If you can get Estradot they are tiny in comparison.

Interesting! The consultant prescribed me testosterone to try for brain fog but I’ve been reticent to try it yet.
