Red light therapy for atrophy

So I’m kind of desperate, despite daily pessaries I’m in constant pain (urethra and bladder as well). Just wondering as the Facebook groups seem quite anti them and I don’t really trust online reviews if anyone had used one? Did it work? I’m thinking £300 is a lot but maybe it’s an investment.

I have severe Vaginal Atrophy for the last 10 years.

I looked into red light therapy but decided against it as we all know it estrogen and moisturisers that treat it.

Has anything worked for you? I’m scared of Intrarosa because of the reported hair loss, I’m using daily pessaries, I’ve had invasive tests and not found anything.

An Estring has helped but I cant tolerate Ovestin so still have many symptoms especially externally.

Oh it’s rubbish isn’t it. I might get one and see.

Hello, Intrarosa doesn't cause hair loss like systemic testosterone therapy.

It was suggested to me by my private menopause specialist, but I haven't actually tried it yet so can't say anything to effectiveness.

Do you actually have IC/PBS?

What kind of pain is it? Are you following a bladder sensitive diet?

I’ve been told VA, seen a urogynae, a gynae, another gynae. Suggestions of OAB but urodynamic flow didn’t support that, nor did my symptoms - it felt like a ‘let’s try this meds’ thing. Daily oestrogen locally.
some conversations about PBS with one, and with the other about VA causing painful bladder. Diet fully adjusted and vegan, so water only, B complex without B6 - I’ve done so much research online and cut out so much. I drink water and camomile tea , no fizz, no caffeine, don’t eat citrus etc etc

Hair loss is common during menopause, and also as a reaction to stress, and this situation sounds stressful (including with all the dietary restrictions etc) and painful. Hair loss is not, however, common in reaction to intarosa. I think if your dr has recommended trying it, it’s better to try it and see if it helps, than avoid it due to a very unlikely effect.

fwiw, I take systemic testosterone due to menopause, and my hair is unaffected. Whereas low oestrogen affected it lots!

Im on systemic and local oestrogen, on a daily basis. I don’t want to try Intrarosa because there is a lot around hair loss reported on social media sites

https://www.drugs.com/comments/dehydroepiandrosterone/intrarosa-sfx-hair-loss.html

it might be coincidental but I’m not experiencing it now and am too worried to try.

im just interested in anyone’s experience of red light therapy either professionally delivered or as a home device.

im so sick of losing urine when I stand after a wee, the random soreness etc, and kegels which did nothing except increase my stress levels, and the loss of urine started after I began them.
