Are these spots due to menopause?

Hiya, looking for advice on this. For the past few months I've had redness & spots under my nose and on my chin. I can't get rid of them. I put on tea tree cream on them at least twice a day in the vain hopes that it will clear them up but to no avail. I'm trying to pluck up the courage to go to my GP for HRT etc.

Can anyone confirm if these spots are due to Menopause and if there is anything else I can use on them (preferably under £5 as I'm on a tight budget)

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

It's unlikely but not impossible . Some women do get adult acne when hormones change.

It's very hard to see at the photos are quite blurred. can you take some from a distance ?

Tea tree oil is very strong and I'd not use it on your face.
It could be making everything worse.
You could use just a very simple face wash and keep the skin clean.

Do you have other symptoms? You can't expect to be prescribed HRT for spots if that is what you mean but you can if you have other symptoms.

I had spots under my chin during menopause, so I think it might be connected

Is it itchy at all OP?

Of course I'm not going to get hrt just for my spots!!!! I have other symptoms too!!!

Light therapy would help.

I’d say it’s more likely an infection - it looks like impetigo.

You should stop aggravating it… tea tree can irritate further. See a GP or pharmacist for an antibiotic cream.

I have spots from peri. I bought clearisil face wash and highly recommend getting a bottle of witch hazel and use as cleanser! (I had bad acne as a teen/20s).

It seems ludicrous to mix anti acne and anti wrinkle 🤣

It looks a lot like how my perioral dermatitis presents. It's made worse for me with spicy food, thick creams, and over exfoliating.
20% azelaic acid cleared mine up pretty quickly and keeps it at bay now. But definitely see the GP to make sure it's not impetigo or something else like that as they can look similar.

But generally, yes, fluctuating hormones can cause havoc on skin.

Looking at your other photos, I'd suggest you see your GP or a pharmacist because it looks infected and you might need antibiotics.

Tea tree is quite strong and may be making them worse.

As a PP has said it looks a bit like impetigo which is infectious.

If your GP gives you antibiotics or something similar to put on them, it's probably best to use a very gentle perfume free cleanser .

Update, have switched to putting on Sudocreme with aloe Vera and nappy rash cream to see if these will work.

That won't work for something like impetigo (which is what I thought it might be when I asked you if it was itchy).
Why don't you go to Boots and ask the pharmacist for advice, I think they cover skin complaints.

No it's not itchy

That is peri oral dermatitis and can only be treated with an oral antibiotic .I am a nurse and have also had peri oral dermatitis myself .Make an appointment with your doctor.

Went to pharmacy earlier spoke to pharmacist who said it looked like perioraldermatitis and I need to get GP to prescribe meds for it so will hopefully get appointment during the week. Not looking too bad at moment but good that I have a name for it.

That looks nothing like hormonal acne. Menopausal acne is usually sore, cystic acne on your chin and jawline. What you’ve got looks like a rash around your nose and mouth - something like impetigo or dermatitis.
