Could this sudden very heavy period be the start of perimenopause?

Age 42. Last cycle end of June, completely normal.

Woke up this morning absolutely flooded. No warning signs/symptoms.

Today it has been none stop. Super Tampons no help whatsoever. Within an hour needed changing, even tried adding a pad to try help. I've spent the day walking round feeling like I'm constantly peeing myself. Small clots throughout the day too.

Showered twice to try and make myself feel fresh. Currently lying in bed wearing super night time always ultra. (I prefer tampons but they are definitely not helping).

Definitely not pregnant 😂 Is this the start of Perimenopause?!

For context I have been on my feet all day at work so that probably didn't help. By the time I was driving home I was soaked through & out of products. Just had to deal with it until I got home.

I think it could be. It happened to me. But go to the GP and get checked out. They will usually give you a scan to check all is ok. Then they gave me transexamic acid (not sure if that’s how you spell it) which was v helpful. Then after that a mirena coil which to be honest was a miracle.

From what I've heard, you should actually go to emergency if you're going through a pad an hour.

Flooding can happen in perimenopause but if this is out of the ordinary and the first time, I'd go get checked. Just to be sure.

I had the coil and it really helped but didn’t stop my bleeding altogether and made me totally miserable. I’ve had it taken out, feel much better overall but am now back to absolute flooding periods again. I’m taking tranexemic acid when I need to.
