Breakthrough bleeding after reducing Sandrena dose, has anyone had this?

Hi all,

To set the scene, I have been on 1.5mg of Sandrena gel & 5mg of Provera for about 3 years now. no issues once settled in.

A few weeks ago, I started getting a little breakthrough bleeding, more of a dark brown when i wiped and was feeling very lethargic and bloated, it felt like my sandrena dose was too high.

I made an appointment with the GP, they used to have a Menopause nurse but was cut due to finding, so i had to see one of the normal doctors. He seriously did not have a clue about any of it, I could tell he was uncomfortable when i asked questions, so I basically said " I think my estrogen dose is too high, do you think it would be ok to go down to 2 sachets of Sandrena rather then 3"? I know our demand for estrogen can lesson as we get older, I'm 56 now.

He agreed and said try it, so that's what a have done but the bleeding still continues. I've read that any change of dose can itself cause breakthrough bleeding, whether the dose is up or down, so do i just put up with it to see if it settles down?

I do feel better on the lower dose, so think it was too high but do you think it may be an idea to up my Provera for a while to see if that may stop it? I'm not going to bother with the GPs again, as its a waste of time and can't go private unfortunately.

As anyone had anything similar? Is it just a case of carrying on to see if it stops.

Any insights would be great
