Melting HRT in the heat ?

Has anyone else had this issue ?

I'm on 100mg evorel patches, the last week or so I've had hot flushes and migraines come back. Yesterday I had massive hot flushes and started spotting mid-cycle, I was near the patch change day so changed it early but it's continued.

This usually only ever happens to me if I take the patch off for a few hours.

I'm very hot, and the patches have been in a room that's very hot (they're all hot!), I'm wondering if it's one of those factors which has caused it to stop working?

Infuriating ! I've been on my current regime for 8 months, so I'm not sure why it would suddenly stop working. I am not enjoying the return of symptoms.

Just a guess but the heat is possibly affecting absorption or the patches in storage.
Someone here posted about a similar thing (how to keep hrt under 25C) and keeping it in the fridge was discussed.
Unfortunately we can't fit ourselves in the fridge!

Thank you ! It's hard to be sure it's the patches that are the problem... there isn't visibly anything wrong with them - I just suddenly have symptoms again.

I wondered if others have had the same issue.

I had a look online and it said store below 25* but do not put in the fridge... unsure how to maintain this temperate climate !

You could use a cool box with ice blocks that would keep it cooler but not as cold as a fridge.

Good idea... I actually spoke to my GP in the end who said that lots of people had the same problem, due to sweating under the patch apparently.

She suggested switching to gel for a while.

I've hD a fresh patch daily pretty much as they've sweated off

I’ve never had a patch fall off until the last couple of weeks. I’ve put tattoo film over now.

Doggymummar · 10/07/2026 18:55

Ooh never heard of that, googling

Sorry I feel I've made folks paranoid now.

My patches haven't fallen off, but the glue has kind of spread outside the patch area and my clothes have ended up stuck to the patch.

That plus the symptoms returning made me think they weren't working.
