Heavy bleeding on Evorel Conti and unsure about additional oestrogen

I'm on my 3rd attempt at HRT. Both previous attempts were a couple of years ago before my periods stopped, and I didn't like the way it made me feel, so I ditched it as my symptoms weren't that bad.

Fast forward a couple of years, no periods for 10ish months, but my sleep is shite, no energy, anxious, very achy waking up in the mornings, itchy ears and scalp and struggling with ibs and bloating so I thought I'd give it another go. I've been on Evorel Conti patches for 3 months with very little improvement in any of my symptoms except the itching is better. However...I am now having heavy long periods again, with sometimes only a week or two between bleeding. Been back to the GP and they have prescribed an additional oestrogen only patch. But from what I have read, it seems to be the progesterone that needs adjusting for the bleeding not the oestrogen? I'm loathe to try the additional patches and make it worse, I have adeno which makes my periods very painful and I really thought I was past that! 😭

Does anyone have any advice / experience with similar please?

Hi, sorry to jump on your thread but I've been on the patches for 3 months, all fine up until now but woke up this morning with a heavy bleeding. Did you manage to get any answers?

@Baldrapunzel not yet sadly. I tried the oestrogen only patch on top of the other patch for about 4 weeks, but it made the bleeding considerably worse. I was also constantly having abdominal pain - I have mild adenomyosis and apparently additional oestrogen not balanced correctly with progesterone can cause flare ups. Back to the GP tomorrow funnily enough to see if she has any other ideas!

I had a similar experience on Evorel Sequi (not Conti) where my period were anything from 8 to 20 days apart.

After investigating to ensure no other underlying issues I was moved to Conti with an additional daily progesterone capsule which sorted it out.

I went to the GP yesterday and she's sending me for a scan in case of polyps. And I'm off the HRT completely 😬
