Menopause bleed

Ive been on estrogen patch of 50mg and progesterone 100 mg for 4 months most symptoms disappeared but some came bk so dr upped my patch to 75mg been on 75 mg patch for a couple of weeks now but just started spotting a slight bleed is that normal also hadn't had a period for 12 months

I had this when I changed dose. No one was particularly bothered but still had a scan just in case. It was all fine.

There is BMS guidance that doses of 75mcg may need double the amount of progesterone - 200mgs a day not 100mgs.

However, there is also guidance that any new dose should be allowed to settle for 3 months.

You should see your GP but there is guidance for them to follow which is adjust the HRT first and see if it settles.

I had this with the 75mg dose. I started having 2 days of spotting/bleeding every 2 weeks. I decided to cut the patch into 2/3 to go back to 50mg in the end… and it calmed down instantly. Hopefully I can manage my symptoms with that level but good to know the advice re 2 x progesterone.
