Testosterone levels rose too high very quickly on gel with no noticeable effects yet?

I recently started testosterone gel to help raise my testosterone levels. I was tested 2 months ago at 0.34nmol/l which is only just inside the lower normal level for women and apparently less than half than the average for women my age (48). I was able to order testogel from an online pharmacy and have been using it for 2 months. I was supposed to be using a sachet over 8 days but in truth its taken me closer to 14 days to get though a single sachet so as opposed to 5g a day I was getting closer to 3g a day.

I have just retested my testosterone level and it has shot up to 2.87 nmol/L which is above the female range. I'm just a bit surprised that it has gone up so much in such a short time with such a low dose. I have had literally no effects or side effects yet either. I'm acne prone and if anything I've had less acne on testosterone and so far not really noticing the benefits such as libido, improved sleep, energy, motivation etc. Which I knew would take up to 6 months to kick in.

I am just a bit disappointed that I will likely have to stop due to high levels when I haven't had any positive effects.

Anyone else had this?

My levels shot up immediately too so I cut back a bit but haven’t been tested since. I’m suspicious of the “normal” ranges - they seem to be very variable and not linked to function as far as I can see but I’m not a medic.

i did have a good result from testosterone but I upped my oestrogen first; if you don’t have enough oestrogen then testosterone doesn’t work.

@LadyGardenersQuestionTime Thanks, that's a useful perspective! Were you under the care of a doctor for your testosterone? I'm on 100mcg patch of estrogen which is the most my GP will prescribe. I am not sure what to do as I was getting it from an online pharmacy and I doubt they will reissue the prescription if I am too high. I was already using just half the usual dose so I must be very absorbent! I am wary of virilization as some of the changes can be permanent! I also saw one woman on reddit who said her testosterone levels kept climbing even after stopping the testosterone gel.
