Am 51, had mirena for 2yrs.. history of endo / adeno.. bled for first 6 months then nothing.. but last week started spotting brownish blood which in last couple of days has turned into a bright red normal period.. not heavy, but do have minor period pains. Should I see doc or just sit it out? Anyone else had this? Am on hrt but not changed anything there either.

Happened to me around the same time period and I was told it was the hormones wearing off/in my case I’d likely need to get it replaced more often. Not ideal when it’s meant to last many years more.

Thanks @ScullyD - did they send you for scan or any other tests or just make an assumption? Did you just have a regular period, or prolonged bleeding. Not sure how long to leave it til going to docs.

Doctor assumes this was the case. To be honest the coil largely stopped my periods and this was just a lighter breakthrough bleed lasting days. If I were you I wouldn’t leave it, best to take action as you never know how long it will take to get help with these things.
