Normally flood, but on day 3 and barely anything

Sorry if TMI, but I’ve always had very heavy periods, which have amped up in last few years (wear several maternity towels at night and still flood even on tranexamic acid). This is my third cycle in a row that’s come in at 21-23 days, rather than 28-9. I’m on day three which would normally mean tampon and pads and a towel beneath me in the car to get through a 45 minute school run. It’s still like the start of day one or end of day seven, hardly anything. Is such a dramatic change normal in peri? I’ll be glad if it is as my ferritin is really low and so is my iron binding, so if this helps the sheer relentless exhaustion, that would be great.

I really wish everyone would put their age down when they post/ comment on threads like this

Was it a sudden change @hedgehog?

I'm 51 and went from horrendous periods like yours to so light! Had HRT review and told 1 more year and they will change HRT to a version where I hopefully have stopped periods as this version of HRT gives monthly periods.

This month feels like a "heavy" period as it's day 4 (compared to easily 10 day long periods) still bleeding, been emotional (but nothing like years earlier) runs (but not the awful cramps) feel pretty exhausted and body is tired. Generally though it's over in a few days, can get by just using period pants! Can get emotional before period still, but the awful cramps, pains, drained feeling has generally gone. It's great but annoying that I see how "easy" periods can be, I tried all the trasemic/pills/ablation over the years and feel let down so many holidays/work/family time ruined by such extreme periods.
They are not maybe made for it, but I bought tenna lady thick pads in desperation one time and they where pretty good for leeks

I went straight to flooding day 4 and today. So odd. Getting by just on period pants sounds like a dream. I had an easy adolescence so maybe this is payback!!
