Has HRT helped anyone with peri menopause morning anxiety symptoms?

Has anyone found hrt helpful for anxiety? I wake up each morning with an awful anxious feeling. It's like a sense of doom and I feel it very physically and have to run to the loo. It is hard to explain but it's like I have such dread and anxiety but over nothing. It does wear off once I'm up and about but I absolutely hate feeling this way every morning and I'm worried it's going to develop into feeling this way all day. Could this be Peri related? I've noticed it's worse in the second half of my cycle. I'm 45. Would hrt help? My cycles are still regular but shorter in length and very heavy the first three days. My ferritin is very low (10 at last test) and I'm on iron tablets now. I don't get hot flushes but I find it can't control my temp very well and go from being far too cold to too warm in an instant. I'm also very bad tempered in the few days before my period which is a new thing for me. I've mentioned hrt to my doctor before but she seemed reluctant to start me on it because I suffer with migraine with aura which got much worse when I was on estrogen tablets for IVF. I didn't get headaches or migraines when pregnant or breastfeeding though so I'm thinking I am sensitive to fluctuations in hormones.

I have this and it lifted initially, which was amazing, but it has come back. I am upping my oestrogen this week and I am hoping it helps. I am hoping I just need to get my dose correct. I do sleep better on progesterone.

Yes, absolutely. Not sure if my anxiety was because of lack of sleep, or if I was waking early because of the anxiety but either way they’re both improved immeasurably on HRT. As with pp though I’m needing to tweak my oestrogen up a bit as time goes on. As with you my other symptoms were heavy periods and shorter cycle. Periods are so much lighter and more manageable now (which am hoping will help the iron levels).

I feel for you, the morning anxiety is really horrible, completely debilitating. When I started micronised progesterone that really seemed to help (it helped my sleep as well)
Initially my doctor started me the combined HRT patch, and that actually seemed to make the anxiety worse, particularly in the second half of my cycle. It was a bit of a battle to get them to switch me over to the micronised progesterone, but it seems to suit me much better.
I found that cutting out alcohol helped enormously as well. I absolutely loved a glass of wine, but the anxiety the next morning became so overwhelming that I prefer not to drink at all now- I never thought I’d be saying that!
