Has anyone found zinc helpful for peri-menopause sleep problems?

I think I posted here before about having peri sleep issues but I just wanted to pop on and say that I've been finding zinc really helpful. I take it in the evening after dinner and sleep right though or if I wake up its only for a short while. I have to take quite a high dose though so am trying to gradually lower the dose to see when it stops helping. I was taking 50mg then dropped to 22mg which didn't work but when I went up to 44 it did work and I think 33mg worked the past couple of nights.

Not sure how viable that is long term as I don't want to get a copper deficiency from too much zinc but also not sleeping was ruining my life!

Anyone else tried zinc for sleep issues?

What was your issue ? Was it just waking up a lot and unable to get back asleep ? Or night sweats ?
Great, you found a solution though.

@Carolenarua It was waking up a lot and being unable to get back to sleep. The zinc really seems to help with that.

I've been on HRT for about 5 years now but still had sleep issues. I suppose I must have been zinc deficient or something?

Hi
Thanks for sharing this. I've never heard that zinc can help with sleep. I haven't tried zinc; some people have recommended magnesium for my sleep problems.

Worth a try, just take care as too much zinc can cause a copper deficiency I need to start a copper supplement to balance it out if I want to keep using the zinc. I tried magnesium for sleep and it didn't really do anything but somehow the zinc works for me!
