Erratic periods and PMDD symptoms on HRT, considering stopping

I have been taking HRT for last 2 years. Took a while to get the right type. Now on 50mg patch, 100mg Ustrogesten daily. I find it practically impossible to get any help from gp, appointments never available and always phone call (usually in work so not really easy to speak). I am getting erratic periods one is 36 days apart then 21 days apart coupled with severe PMDD symptoms. I feel terrible most of the time. I am thinking about coming off hrt as I am not sure it working and as its so hard to speak to a gp. x

What else have you tried and it didn't suit you?

The most obvious issue is that you're not using enough progesterone if you are not over 54 or post menopausal. Hence the bleeding. This is 'classic' from many GPs who rush to put women onto continuous when it isn't always the right thing.

100mgs of Utrogestan is not enough to control your own cycles. You may also be intolerant to micronised progesterone.
So using it every day is not ideal. You may feel better on 12 days a month with a predictable monthly bleed.

There are LOTS of different options.

A patch which has a different type of progesterone (Norethisterone)
The Mirena coil with a patch /gel
An estrogen patch with an oral tablet (Norethisterone)
Oral tablets ( fine for women under 60 and with no clotting issues.)

Have a think on this and ask your GP for whatever you fancy.
They are unlikely to be much help TBH but if you can afford it, maybe think about seeing a menopause consultant?
