Bleeding after Mirena for HRT at 53: peri-menopause or check-up?

I’m 53 and had a mirena fitted last July for hrt purposes. Use oestrogen gel alongside.
i was still having regular periods until the mirena and it took probably 6 months for bleeding to settle so not bled for roughly three months. This week I’ve had some blood on wiping and pmt symptoms

Im confused now if this needs investigation?
Am I still considered peri?
Googling isn’t giving me a definitive answer

I would get it checked. It's probably fine. Coils can take a while to settle properly but as you have no way of telling if you have gone through menopause ( if it has been a year- if it's just 9 months then you are not menopausal and more likely just the coil). If unsure always talk it though with a Dr though.

I have a Mirena as part of HRT and still get irregular (very light) “periods” - mine is coming up four years in the summer. I did phone the GP a few times but it’s impossible to get an appointment so I have given up. Irregular bleeding can be a symptom of ovarian cancer I think, so if you can see a doctor I probably would just for peace of mind.

Thanks for the replies. Saw a doctor end of last week and they have referred me for a scan more precautionary.
Her feeling was as it’s been under a year it’s impossible to tell if I’m still peri or not.
Find it all so confusing 🫤

The Mirena doesn't always stop bleeding 100%.
It's promoted as stopping periods but it's not always like that for all women.

There are women who have one who still have some bleeding (not on HRT.) Or even on HRT, and in peri or post menopause.

The 6 months of spotting is very normal as it takes that long for any form of continuous progesterone to work (tablets, patches or the Mirena.)

You won't know if you are post menopause as long as you use a Mirena. No one on HRT knows when their periods have stopped, whether they use sequential (gives a false cycle) or combined continuous.

It must surely be unlikely it's anything to worry about because it will still be giving your womb a dose of progesterone.
