Experiences of testosterone gel for menopause symptoms?

So I have bit the bullet and ordered some Testogel from Superdrug. I did a test privately and it came back in the low normal range. I have multiple symptoms of low testosterone including low libido, fatigue, brain fog which my E&P HRT hasn't helped much.

So I am really just looking for some other women's experiences on TRT. I am quite nervous about it given some of the potential side effects but also hopeful that it will help with the symptoms I still have.

I've seen some amazing reviews from women saying it gave them their life back and others that had to stop due to hair loss or hair growth or irritability etc. What has your experience on testosterone been?

How long was it until you noticed a difference? I've seen some people say they felt better the first day and other that it took months to see a difference.

How often do you do follow up blood tests? I think I need to do another in 2 months.

The dosing says to do an 8th of the sachet every day for 8 days but I've seen lots of advice to start with a lower dose than that and increase after a week so that a sachet lasts more like 10 days or so. Any input on that?

I really don't want any virilization or acne, which I have been prone to in the past but it's only a few weeks supply for now and the other symptoms I'm having means it is worth a shot!

Any advice or experiences would be great!

@cellobrew would you mind sharing how are you getting on with it as we are now 6 months down the line?

I'm keen to hear updates too 😊

So I tried it over about 8 weeks using a truly tiny amount about half of what was suggested so one sachet of testo gel took me about 14 days to get through as opposed to 8 and even so my testosterone level shot up to 2.87 nmol/L in that time. The treatment range was between 0.29 nmol/L and 1.67 nmol/L so I couldn't get any more gel prescribed. I was really surprised at the result and even wondered if it were a error. I did not really have any noticeable results or benefits although I did experience some weight gain which may or may not have been related. So it was a bust for me sadly.

I may retest my levels next year and try again at some point but I think it would be much better to do it under the care of a GP as the cost to always test and retest really mounts up. If my test results were accurate I may be a hyper absorber which would mean I'd have to do a much lower dose and have it monitored. Sadly most GP's where I am are not obligated to prescribe testosterone for women and from what I hear most prefer not to.

I was told to make a sachet last between 2 and 3 weeks!

I used Testogel for a few months but it gave me such horrendous skin that I stopped.

Finally had my meno clinic appointment last week and they’ve suggested I try the sachets instead. They arrived today and I am very nervous. I loved the increased energy from Testogel but I scared to screw up my skin again now it has only just settled.

Have a romantic weekend away this Fri and I’m not sure the man can handle any increase in libido either 😂
