Anyone had bleeding after starting topical oestrogen?

Wondering how common it is to have some bleeding after starting topical oestrogen, or if I need to go back to the GP. I had a urology appointment where the consultant recommended estring for some urinary symptoms, which I started about a week ago. It's been OK so far until some bleeding yesterday and today, bit like a light period. I haven't had periods for 2 years but am not on systemic HRT yet for various reasons. So this is the first hormonal thing I've had. Prior to the urology appointment, I had a TV scan for some pain, which was clear apart from a very small ovarian cyst; I had a CT as part of the urology appointment, which was also fine. Blood tests like ca-125 and others have been fine too. So likelihood of any pathology is pretty small I think. But I know they are cautious about post-menopausal bleeding. It seems fairly likely that it's caused by starting the topical oestrogen, so I wonder if the GP is likely to do anything further, given I've already had various tests in recent weeks/months, which are probably the tests that would have been recommended otherwise.

Any post menopause bleeding should be investigated, even if it’s possible it has been caused by oestrogen.

Obviously if you are worried, see your GP but it's very unlikely to be anything serious after such a short amount of time.

Check this out but the leaflet on vaginal estrogen cream does mention spotting as a side effect.

However, don't take my word for it and maybe speak to your GP.

turns out GP doesn't investigate until 3 months or more
