I was either pregnant or breastfeeding or both for 8.5 years

I am now nearly 53. Have been perimenopausal for years but still get periods - currently sitting on the sofa with cramps like a bloody teenager! Is it taking so long because of my long term breastfeeding? (Which did lead to me having several period-free months in my thirties)

I had my DC at 41 and I think it delayed all the older bits. I was like a teenager until around 52 then my periods were mental and I was referred to hospital for tests, all came back clear. The flooding stopped soon after and I never bled again. The downside to no periods is loss of hormones, but that's another story.

I was wondering this. I am 49 and I don’t have any peri menopause symptoms at all. I have had two pregnancies and breastfed both of them, periods didn’t return for over a year each time. So I make that about 4 years without periods, in my mid to late 30s.

I had three children and breastfed all three, so pretty much like you @caniquitwork .

I sailed through the menopause. My periods just stopped at 52 and that was that.
