With 4-5 hour nights some days of the week and last night was only 90 mins of broken sleep. I’m a nervous wreck. I’m crying often and feel so much dread and despair. I’m 47 been on HRT since May 2024 - 2.5 mg 2 x pumps gel daily and have been put on 100 mg progesterone (micronised) daily. Recently (December switched from 200 mg 14 days to every day 100 mg)
I have been on and stopped amitriptyline bevause it stopped working months ago. Will GP be able to help?

Sounds like maybe your dose of oestrogen needs to be increased. It's v common to start on 2 pumps but to increase to 3 or 4 pumps over time

Your GP should be able to increase your oestrogen prescription for you, and you will need to increase your progesterone as well

Thank you so much for your help. I do not have an appointment until two weeks time. Would it be bad to increase these myself?

Do you take magnesium? I was the same as you, barely sleeping and using herbal sleeping tablets to try and help. Then I bought magnesium. I take one before bed and I sleep (mostly) through the night.

Definitely wait to discuss with your GP, because they will need to decide how much to increase your progesterone to as well

I take magnesium glycinate at bedtime, same as @Belladog1 suggested, and it really helps me with sleep

I did! Well it was patches for me. I was on 100mcg and my esttrogen level was 304
which is on the low side so I snipped a patch in quarters and slapped one of them on and now feel great. I have a mirena as well. Have I told the doctor? No. Will I? Possibly. If they ask 😂

If you go up to 3 pumps then 100mg progesterone daily is enough according to the guidelines. On 4 pumps it needs to be increased to 200mg.

Personally I'd increase if I was feeling so bad. In fact I did increase my dose myself once. One extra pump can make a huge difference.

Thanks for the advice. How quickly do you feel a difference when increasing oestrogen?

For me it was within a few days but I'm sure it varies.
