HELP! Itchy scalp and face - how can I get it to stop?!!

Please help with any instant relief tips!

the itchiness started a few days ago and it’s getting worse
I can’t stop scratching my face and scalp- proper scratching with my nails raking along the skin.

forehead and temples
In my eyebrows
eyeballs and all around my eyes
under chin
behind ears
ALL the top of my scalp

i’ve been putting olive oil into my scalp, sensitive cream on my face and taking antihistamine

I have been awake for the last three hours since 5am constantly itching my face and head.

i’m not on an HRT or any other medication for menopause. Just realised I haven’t taken my vitamins for the last few of weeks - but D and magnesium

please help with any immediate things that might help - will try doctors on Monday but how to get through to then?!!

Sorry OP, I missed that you’d already taken some. Don’t take any more orally. Ask the pharmacist for an antihistamine cream.

Cold compresses?

I had something similar recently but it felt like I had tiny insects crawling on me. It started on my head and spread onto my arms and legs. Antihistamines didn’t really help so I eventually went to the GP for blood tests. My iron came back very low and apparently it can be a symptom.

I found a silk pillowcase to be quite helpful and not getting too warm in bed in the short term. I had an iron infusion a couple of weeks ago and the itching went within a few days.

I am on HRT so it might be worth getting your iron, B12 and thyroid checked as low levels can cause itching.

I would stop using olive oil, it made my scalp worse, I found a really good scalp serum in Superdrug for an itchy scalp called Trichology, calmed my itchy scalp right down, and I can only use baby products on my face, I use baby Aveeno dermexa.

Are you on any medications? As a short-term fix, Ramipril can act as an accelerator for allergic reactions, did for me and a simple salicylate issue went into overdrive. Is it a fungal reaction, Nizoral might help, as head itching makes everything itch. Sudocream on the skin might help calm it yo stop damage. Antihistamines. Ask the pharmacist and allergic reactions can be another 'menopause' gift!!!, so a GP visit on Monday and bloods might pick up vitamin issues.

Cold or heat were the only things that helped mine when my HRT wasn’t working properly. Ice packs / hot water bottles / those frozen face globes.
