Anyone got any tips for where to stick 50mg oestrogen patch so it doesn’t fall off?

I’ve just increased dose from 25mg to 50mg and the patches are much bigger. The 25 were really sticky and never had a problem with them coming off. I put them at the tops of my thighs.

The 50s just won’t stay on. They crease and come lose and I’ve just completely lost one (as in disappeared 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Tips appreciated, thank you!

Bum
They absorb better and stay on if you wear apple catchers

Dinnaeeatallthecheese · 20/02/2026 18:51

Ps
warm slightly first

I found I had to shave the soft hairs of the top of my thighs and then they stuck better. 🙈

OddBoots · 20/02/2026 18:52

I pop mine in my bra for a bit before putting it on so it can warm up to body temperature, it sticks much better that way.

EdinaTheConfessor · 20/02/2026 18:53

I was worried the sitting would cause them to crease?
plus my bum is quite jiggly I have lost a lot of weight recently, everything is quite saggy 🤣

Another vote for bum! Mine are super sticky though - it’s hard to peel them off on change day.

EdinaTheConfessor · 20/02/2026 18:54

Is it supposed to stay on for the full 3/4 days before the next one is due ?(as it says 50mg released in 24 hours so if it comes off after 24 hours does it matter?)

My old ones were. This is a different brand

Buy some tegaderm and stick it over the top.

ChirpyAmberLion · 20/02/2026 18:57

when you take the patch out of it’s sleeve, warm it between your hands for 1 minute. Use each patch on alternate bum cheeks. When putting it on, place your hand over it for another minute. Job done. Doesn’t matter if your bum is jiggly.

Thanks all will try the bum and the warming trick ☺️

I put them on my hips! Makes it easy to see to remove and apply and seems to make them work effectively

EdinaTheConfessor · 20/02/2026 19:12

I run, I wonder if that makes any difference? I pretty much live in leggings which I thought would help pin them to my body but apparently not?

I run, swim and cycle @EdinaTheConfessor

Once the big knickers are on nothing is moving !

FindleBindle · 20/02/2026 20:57

What brand? I use everol (sp??) and they never fall off. I swim most days plus do a lot of other sport. I think the way they stay on is amazing. I tried a different brand and they fell off. I stick them on the top bit of my bum. I have a Saturday side and a Wednesday side 😅

Doggymummar · 20/02/2026 21:07

My evorel are just awful, I lose at least a third of every packet. The ones for September 26 bbe had no stick at all so I had to return them. Bum cheek has the best survival rate

EdinaTheConfessor · 20/02/2026 21:20

They are Norgine. I think the other ones weee everol. Rings a bell anyway.

Will try the bum!

Where your knickers go - so bum, hips or tummy.

That is 50mg per 24 hours and it is meant to be a consistent dose - so yes, it does need to stay on until you place the next patch. I hope you can find a way that works for you.

StopWindingBobStopWinding · 20/02/2026 21:48

I started on my things and that worked until I went up to larger patches. Then moved to bum but mine is quite well-upholstered and a bit jiggly now so that failed too. I have latterly been successful with putting them on my hips, as they don’t crease when I sit down or move independently like my legs. So far so good, about a year in.

WeAllHaveWings · 20/02/2026 21:55

I moved from Evorel 50 to 75 about a month ago and was surprised the bigger patches actually seem to stick better and have a thinner black line around them when removed as it doesn’t shift as much.

I warm the patch before applying to clean (no moisturiser) skin, (wait 30 minutes after shower), top of front of thigh slightly towards outside which is hair free.

I think for many people it is just luck with skin type if it stays put.
