Help! Bleeding every 2 weeks, referral

Hi. I’ve been referred to a gyno in the 2 weeks pathway so I’m here just asking for reassurance. I’m fully in perimeno: last year, I didn’t have periods for 6 months, 2 years before and now quite all over the place, now for the last 3 it’s been every 2 weeks! Also had spotting in between 2. I’ve been in HRT for almost 3 years so it’s not that, although sometimes I forget the gel. The GP sent me for a scan, but I have big fibroids so they couldn’t see everything and it was inclonclusive. Urgently referred to gyno now. Tell me this could be ok? She says most of the time it’s nothing to worry about, but I’m spiralling

I had this a few years ago bled for nearly a year. Got too much when passing blood clots size of a 50p. Was given the coil twice both times fell out. This was all to do with the fibroids. Had an operation to remove the fibroids and had a coil fitted whilst under general anaesthetic. This was 4 years ago had no bleeding since.
i was given tablets to help stop the bleeding whilst waiting for operation.

@Isabella40 thank you for replying. Where you in peri and HRT? I had fibroids for most of my life and they had never given me this kind of trouble

Definitely in peri but never HRT. Fibroids were detected when I was pregnant but didn’t cause any issues until a few years ago.

I started bleeding all over the shop a couple of years ago. Last April, I started bleeding and never stopped.

All caused by fibroids. I'm waiting for a hysterectomy.

I personally found that if I changed my eostrogel in any way, ie if I forgot it, or added a couple of extra pumps, i started bleeding. I had a scan to ensure all looked OK. My uterine lining was slightly too thick, so i need to keep an eye on things. Now I take the same HRT dose every night, without fail.

Thank you for all your responses. I do forget my oestrogel sometimes, not too often but more than once! I’m hoping that’s the problem. Also, I didn’t realise periods could be so erratic while in HRT!

Good luck. I was offered one but never had the courage.

I had this and like pp I had the op to take the fibroids out and put in a coil. Amazing I haven't had anything more than slight spotting since October and was literally changing towel plus period pants every hour or so with a 2 week gap in between before. however am not in full peri or on hrt.

Hi, I thought I would update in case anyone finds the thread. Had the hysterescopy and everything was fine. I had a Mirena inserted to control my bleeding. Fingers crossed it works!

Fibroiads absolutely can cause this, though obviously only a gynae can diagnose and say for sure, and it might well be when they're removed, you will feel much better in a few months (depending how big/what surgery is needed). One type of surgery for someone I know was a very quick one and she was back to work in a month, but obviously it depends.

What a relief. I really hope the Mirena helps you. Mine was pushed out by the fibroids but for some women, it's the only solution they need.

Can I ask (not to try and take over OPs thread ) but was it a hysteroscopy you had to remove fibroids ?

(I ask as I’m in similar position to OP ) and I’m having one .
