App to help remind me to take HRT?

Does anyone use an app to plan & track their HRT?

I couldn’t remember last night if I’d taken my progesterone or not, and ended up taking another pill. Feel weird this morning so maybe I over dosed!

It made me think, I need to log every day when I’ve taken a pill / changed patch or whatever so I don’t lose track

I’m currently using google calendar to plan when to take my Urtrogestan, but a specially designed app might be better

Any ideas folks?

When I (or a pet) need to take a course of medicine I write dates on the back of the pill packet itself. If the pill is gone from that blister, it's been taken.

You can also write dates on the pill bottles or the back of an envelope and cross them off each time.

Alternatively, just set a daily phone alarm?

Dh has an app for all his meds, not HRT but several doses of things throughout the day. He uses MedTimer. You can track how many tablets you have left, set notifications of when to take the meds and set a reminder for when to trigger your repeat prescription.

If you have an iPhone the Apple health app has a medication reminder section - reminder will send to iPhone, iPad and watch if you have those too. The problem I had is I’d say I’ll log that in a minute then would get distracted and, I couldn’t remember if I’d taken but not logged it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I find work better with an alarm set on iPad and I hit the snooze button until I take it.

I'm old-school. I use a pill box with the days of the week for my various pills. In fact, I have two: one for AM and one for PM.

MarshmallowWoman · 17/02/2026 14:10

Love this! I only take utrogestan for 12 days rather than 15 so would like the option to adjust that

HappyAsASandboy · 17/02/2026 14:17

@JaneIsMenopausali just tried your app and I liked it, but why is it limited to 3 medications? I would find it really helpful if I could log all my medications in one place, not just the HRT ones.

HappyAsASandboy · 17/02/2026 14:19

@JaneIsMenopausalI also have one medication that is an injection every 90 days. But day zero for that injection is not the same as day zero for the Day 15-28 of progesterone! Is there any way to have a different “day zero” for different medications?

MiddleAgedDread · 17/02/2026 14:23

either a classic pill sorter for about £5 on amazon or take a sharpie marker to the packaging and initials days of the week on the foil.

HappyAsASandboy · 17/02/2026 14:37

10 medications would be plenty, I think.

Re the cycles, I guess either mange separate “cycles” for each medication, or be able to say which days of one cycle each medication should either be on (single date) or start on with a duration (like progesterone tablets).

MarshmallowWoman · 17/02/2026 14:56

@JaneIsMenopausalamazing thank you!

For my progesterone, I start mine on the 1st day of the month and take for 14 days. I got myself into a mess counting days. I can always remember 1st is HRT day.

as for whether I’ve taken them, I put the box next to my bed. When I’ve taken them, I move it to the tray on my bedside table. In the morning I move it back to the side of the bed. I probably have missed a few over the years, but if I do, I just extend the time to take them. I think that getting the right dose is more important.

when I was on the patches, I changed them the same days of the week, so I wouldn’t forget. But I’m on gel now, which is every day. It’s part of my daily routine, so I very rarely forget it.

I find the app MyTherapy great for reminding when to take my medication. It will do the progesterone ‘days off / days on’ reminder which some apps don’t do. It also tracks how many tablets you have left. It is also free!

sorrynotathome · 17/02/2026 16:48

When I had cancer I used an app called Medisafe. It was great as you could put everything in, with reminders at whatever intervals and start & stop days etc. Only problem was I came to dread the notification sound for one of the drugs which tasted absolutely foul... 😂

EveryDayisFriday · 18/02/2026 10:32

I have 2 apps as reminder at 8am. My NHS GP app has a reminder and I also use todoist app as a 2nd reminder.

I'm switching back to patches though as I have missed the odd pill and this has messed me up. Twice a week patch change is nice and easy.

firstofallimadelight · 18/02/2026 10:35

I just have a reminder come on my phone whilst I’m (usually) dressing i either do it straight away or get the box out and put it away immediately after I do it. So if box is out I haven’t done it and if box is away I have.

MarshmallowWoman · 19/03/2026 12:01

@janeismenopausal

hello! I long to use this but just wondering if you’d managed to get the ability to change utrogestan to 12 days instead
of 15 going yet?

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 19/03/2026 12:08

I just use my phone alarm as reminders.
