Combined HRT help - am I taking it correctly?

Hello lovely people, I hope you can give me some advice! I have been on combined oestrogen (gel) and progesterone (Utrogestan) for about 1.5 years now, but have suddenly realised I may have been taking it incorrectly all this time. Cue slight panic...

According to the instructions, you use the oestrogen gel every day, and take progesterone on days 15 to 26 of a 28 day cycle. However I have realised that I count day 1 as the first day after I finish the progesterone, making my cycle 26 days and not 28. Should I in fact be counting the day after as day 27, starting at day 1 the day after day 28? I assume so 🤦‍♀️.

If that is the case, isn't it easier to say that you take the progesterone from days 17 to 28?! Or am I missing something?

Thanks.

I do 14 days on and 14 days off. So if the last progesterone tablets were Sunday 1st Feb then the 2nd to the 15th off and next ones would start on Monday 16th.

But 15th to 26th day is only 12 days, not 14. This is what I don't quite get. That makes a 26 day cycle unless you count the two last days of oestrogen as days 27 and 28?

Who mentioned 26? . I start progesterone in the 16th Feb and take it for 14 days, my last tablet is the 1st March.
I then have a break from the 2nd for 14 days.

Its far far easier to do what many specialists advise.
That is taking it for 12 days from the 1st of each month. OR the same DATE whichever is easier.

The leaflet refers to a 28 day cycle but the extra 2 days in a month make no difference. The leaflet also says 12 days (or 14). 14 days is an option for some women as it may reduce the bleeding in the withdrawal bleed.

Day 1 is the first day of your period if you're trying to follow your cycle, with Day 15 being the midway point.

However, no one has 'real periods' on sequential HRT.
The HRT sets an HRT cycle just like the Pill does.
You can't work it around your own cycle.
In peri you could go for weeks with no periods, or have a very short cycle, like 20 days.

Wherever you are now, I'd suggest you wait till the 1st March and start afresh.
OR if you are due to start progesterone any day now, stick to that date in March.

Thank you - I think that's cleared it up for me. Many thanks!

I just take it for two weeks and then I don’t take it for 2 weeks. No need to do set dates or anything complicated.
