Mirena coil and thrush

Really long complicated story short had a coil in 2020 for HRT replaced with another one in August. Had pelvic discomfort so had a scan and swabs everything was as it should be excepted I had thrush this was only discovered 2 months after the problem started as I didn’t have classic signs. I’ve tried to keep the coil as I was scared to try utrogestan. I had the coil out last Monday (26th Jan) had a bleed for a week and now that’s stopped I still feel a bit sore just on my outer area and I just wondered how long it can take to feel normal again does it take a while to settle after removing the coil? I’ve got a follow up in 5 weeks just wondered if anyone had any experience of this? I’ve started utrogestan continuously as I’m 48 and my last spotting with my coil was July to be reviewed if I get irregular bleeding. I’m just fed up of the thrush situation and feel like I’m never going to be normal down there again!

I had persistent thrush with a copper coil. When I had it taken out the thrush went away for good. I

half my message got lost! Basically I was gaslit by my GP and a gynae who said they weren’t connected but if no one logs the connection then there will never be any evidence will there!

So for me: couple of years of persistent and sometimes agonising lthrush with the coil. Had it removed and 5+ years no thrush

but yes there was a period of settling down to being OK again. Can’t remember how long but hope you are feeling better down there soon

@schooloflostsocks
thanks for replying that gives me hope. I’m just so fed up with it all. I suppose I need to give it chance to ‘rebalance’ after removal? It’s been a nightmare thankfully the doctor I’m seeing now did say you can have one and it’s great and the next one can be a nightmare she said you just don’t know. She didn’t dismiss me unlike the previous one!
