Perimenopause, moving from combined pill to HRT

Currently 42 and been struggling with peri menopause. 2yrs ago went to gp as struggling with fatigue and anxiety which I’ve never had before. They did bloods all normal and concluded just impact of life and being a busy working mum of two.

Fast forward a year and felt even less like myself, brain fog and low mood creeping in, so they told me to run my combined pill together continuously as that might help.

Now a year after that have rage, irritability added to the mix and all the other symptoms have got worse and now get night sweats (sleep quality is still good though bizarrely!).

Everything I’ve read says that HRT doses are lower than the combined pill so not really sure what they’ll suggest at my appointment next week. But wonder if anyone had any experience so I can go into the appointment with more confidence in what to ask for or what to decline if they suggest things!

I’m only 42 so still need reliable contraception as don’t want anymore children added into the mix!

Any advice greatly received 😀

Hi. I am also 42, and have just started HRT. I was also on the combined pill, but still had symptoms of peri.
From what i understand the combined pill contains synthetic hormones, to override ovarian function. HRT replaces/steadies hormones. They have different jobs.
Seems to depend on your luck with GP, but i would list your symptoms and tell them you think its peri and would like to try HRT (it thats what you want) might also help if you know what age your Mum/female relatives went through menopause as it can be similar.
Contraception on HRT would be Mirena coil, or Mini Pill.
Hope you get the help you want, best wishes.

Thanks so much! Got a long list of symptoms to share with them and hoping the fact that it’s been going on for a couple of years and I’ve tried something else that they’ll give me what I think I need!

Hope HRT is helping you!
