Irregular bleeding

I'm 54 and peri-menopausal . I still get periods roughly every 6/7 weeks but they're usually light .
I had some very light bleeding/spotting for just over a week over the Xmas holidays . Then - bang ! Heavy bleeding and clotting . Abdominal cramps . It's now day 11 of this and I'm so fed up , anxious and uncomfortable .
Has anyone experienced anything similar ? I have a GP appountment scheduled for Thursday .

I wouldn’t worry too much. My periods have been different for years. My last period lasted over a year. Now it’s on and off again. It’s good ur getting it checked out though.
