Best location for patch

I’ve only been using patches for coming up to 2 weeks but in that time two have become unstuck.

I’ve been putting them around the hip area. Is there any other area that is better / likely to stay on?

Also, as my patch has come off and is now totally unsticky, do I just put on a new one even though I’m not meant to change it until tomorrow or wait until then?

This is oestrogen patches btw.

I put them on my bottom, where knickers will cover but not catch and swap between cheeks when I change it.

I put mine on bum, close to the hip. I make sure skin is clean and dry and I hold/rub the patch in place for a bit when I apply it to make sure it's properly stuck on.
I think you need to put a new patch on once it's off.

ThePoshUns · 02/01/2026 13:18

If it’s come off put a new one on. If it’s not very sticky I used tattoo patches to keep in place.

Whyherewego · 02/01/2026 13:18

If it's the large one, I put on outside of my thigh. If it comes off I put on another and then change my swapper days.
If it's the smaller dot patch I put on the front of my hip under the knickers

I stick mine on the front top of my thighs so that I can keep an eye on them and change from side to side. I think hip moves around too much and gets knocked by waistband etc. I have not had any issues so far with them coming unstuck.

I was told that if it came off to replace with a fresh patch but then to still change on the usual day.

I wear my Estradot patch on my tummy, under my pants line. When I wore them on my bum I couldn’t see them properly so didn’t know if they were curling at the edges and not sticking properly. When I put a patch on I press down firmly with my hand and hold it there for at least 30 seconds. I find this warms the adhesive and helps it stick. I never have a problem now with them coming off.
Definitely don’t wait until your patch change day-get a new patch on now!

Generally arse works better than hip or stomach for me. You've got to keep it in your bra for 5-10 mins before you use it to warm it up, then keep your hand over it for a bit once you've put it on. The heat activates the sticky. Sometimes putting your foot up on the bath and then slapping it on helps as the skin is already stretched.

I put mine on my hip. Make sure that you are not putting moisturiser or anything similar in the area that you put the patch, they shouldn’t be coming off. If anything, I find it hard to pull mine off! Put it somewhere that doesn’t rub against your clothes seams too.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I use front top of thigh where there is the least skin wrinkling during movement.

I don’t use lotion, wait an hour after shower, warm patch between hands, stick on without touching and give it a firm rub in circular motion for a good 30 secs to warm up/make sure properly stuck.

I’ve never had one come off, it might just be your skin type isn’t suited to them.

Like PP, warming it up makes all the difference! You can do this whilst it's still in the packet by rubbing between your hands. I also wipe the area of skin first with a little pure alcohol spray (which I have for cleaning hobby equipment. You can buy alcohol wipes too but they're a bit over packaged).

Thanks so much for the recommendations. Warming the patch up made a massive difference,

Glad you got that answer. I have taken to popping my (packaged) patch into my bra for a while before slapping it on.

I’m having the same issue! Only started patches a month ago and they don’t stick well on me. Have been using top of my thigh as find the skin on my stomach is too sensitive. Will try the pre warming and 30 seconds for my next change.
