Problems on Mirena after 18 months?

I’m 47, been on the Mirena coil and estrogen for 18 months, following anxiety and insomnia. It was good for the first 6 months or so. But over the last year, I’ve been increasingly depressed, anxious, irritable and have even had thoughts about not being here. Could it be the Mirena coil if I was ok on it to start with? I’m also going through difficult times in my marriage, so it’s hard to find which is the chicken and bunch is the egg. Should I try getting the coil out to see if it helps? What do I need to then ask the doctor to replace it with for progesterone?

Sounds like you might need more oestrogen, when was your last medication review?

I am on the estrogen pump and went up from 2-3 pumps… finding the whole thing a minefield! How do you know what is the best thing to do?!

I would try changing estrogen first. You could increase the dose again and/or you could change type. I had bad experience with the gel but I'm on an even keel with patches.
Worth trying that before removing the coil.

Thank you. It’s such a minefield!
