I generally wake at 3amish and then don’t get back to sleep but I’ve now had several nights of virtually no sleep at all and I’m at the end of my tether. My brain isn’t working anymore, I’m like a zombie and I feel quite down. Full body hot flushes followed by chills and lots of anxiety.
I can’t take HRT as I’ve had breast cancer. I’ve been taking 1000mg magnesium glycinate for the past 3 months and it’s doing nothing. My bedroom is kept cool and I get to bed by 9pm most nights. FSH test indicates I’m most likely post menopausal.
Is anyone else reading this in the same boat right now? I could really just do with some moral support. Thank you x

Yes, I’m in the same boat and it’s having marked effects on my concentration, short-term memory and mood. The worst thing is that there’s no getting back to sleep; no matter what time I wake up, I’m immediately wide awake. I’ve had some success with over the counter Sleepeeze tablets. You can only take them for a short time but they can help me to get into a better sleep pattern. One thing I’ve been trying lately is avoiding screens when I get up, as I heard the blue light can reinforce your waking time so you get caught in a cycle of early waking.

It’s miserable. I listen to a lot of podcasts.

My GP prescribed mirtazapine 7.5 mg at night for me and the ensuing good sleep has been life changing for me. It’s an antidepressant at higher doses but this low dose is sedating.

It was suggested by my Newson menopause GP.
