Hello all. I'm 50 and got a prescription for HRT from my gp (initially I didn't as I don't have night sweats and have a period every two months say while taking mini pill). I started to experience vaginal dryness which led to it being prescribed.
So i take two Lenzetto sprays, one vagifem at night and 200mg utrogestan for two weeks on and then off. I take the mini pill as it is.
I'm on my third day of this hrt. I woke up yesterday feeling dreadful, but as though I have a cold/flu dreadful. Congested head, sore throat, shivers and low level headache.
This is just coincidence right? I'm questioning everything as I got that dreadful flu almost two weeks ago and was out of work for a few days. I had to finish up work early as I felt so bad. I read about women saying HRT made a difference but I feel awful 😂
I'm most worried by the low level headache as I do suffer from migraines, but I would have that with a cold.
Vagifem is working brilliantly, I can feel the difference already.
So am I just unlucky or did anyone develop cold like symptoms or headache starting hrt?

Sounds like a cold.

Estrogen won't give you those symptoms.

Utrogestan might make you feel a bit 'dopey' but it does wear off a bit when you get used to it.

BTW you don't have to do 2 weeks on /off.
The dose is 12 days per month ( as on the leaflet ) but GPs were told to say 2 weeks on/ off so it's easier for women to remember ( patronising or what?)

If you find 14 days too much , use 12.

Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it.
Almost a week later and I still have this bloody cold so I can't say if I feel different etc. However I'm impressed by the vagifem: that weird sensation I had (similar to slight cystitis) has completely gone.
Next year I will be getting the flu vaccine!
