Bleeding gums on hrt

Bella7819 · 13/12/2025 10:17

I have recently increased my patches from 50 to 75 because of low mood and pains.
Recently my gums have been bleeding and inflamed, i’m not sure if this is a coincidence or related.
Has anyone else had this experience?

Bleeding gums during peri/menopause is common and HRT is more likely to reduce, rather than cause this, so I don’t think it’s down to the dose increase.

Ah ok, thanks for responding, just another deterioration to add to the list !

How long is it since you had scale and polish with the hygienist?
Probably time to see your dentist again? I go every 3-4 months.

It probably has been about 6 months so I think I will have to do it more regularly

This is more likely to be an 'added symptom' rather than because of HRT. My dentist told me it's increased cortisol levels that causes it.

My symptoms increased bit by bit despite HRT until I got to the highest dose.

yes , another symptom, i’m stressed a lot so that’s not helping then.
