Hi everyone, I’ve finally stated taking oestrogel after thinking about it for ages. I’ve done 2 days of 1 pump. My head feels quite fuzzy and I’m feeling quite anxious, but I think that’s because I’m scared of side effects. Realistically, would it be making me feel anxious this quickly?

I would try to think of it as boosting something your body has already, not adding something new.
If you were already anxious, maybe talking to someone about that might help.
for me, HRT has been an absolute life changer, and although I was apprehensive, I am so glad I went for it. My menopause symptoms were debilitating (migraine, flooding) and impacting my life, and HRT levelled things for me.
I hope it gets better for you.

So I was on the gel for 4 days, and on the 4th day I had a strange anxiety attack at work, it felt like I couldn't breathe. I'm a teacher so I had to stop it. But then the anxiety increased and then I woke up with vertigo. It's been going on for 3 days and I'm highly anxious about what I've done to myself. I've read that starting and stopping quickly can have this affect, but I'm really panicking. At the moment there's no way I can work until this vertigo is gone which is adding more anxiety. Has anyone else had similar?

No. And you haven't done anything to yourself. You've had less than a week of HRT. This is a hormone you already have in your body. If the hormone was giving you vertigo, you would have had vertigo for years and years.

But do you think the sudden start and stop might have caused it?

It's possibly your own anxiety that is causing this not HRT.

If you think you have vertigo and can't work you should see your GP in case you have labyrinthitis.

Oestrogel gave me anxiety, but not until I'd been using it for more than a few days.

It is the sort of anxiety CBT doesn't work on tho, as it isn't from thoughts, it's a very 'wired' feeling that you can't pin down to anything in particular.

Same here for me and particularly at times when it felt like my own estrogen was surging, it is starting to even out 2 months in though. It’s a very distinct jittery but tired feeling which is a bit disconcerting.

It is evening out for me though op and I had this awful background anxiety that I had never had before and it eliminated that quickly.

I don’t agree with the other posters. I did get inner ear symptoms a few days in, ringing ears, there are estrogen receptors in the inner ear. It settled quickly though. I had vertigo that coincided with perimenopause op but it has settled down with HRT. Anxiety can also sometimes cause vertigo. If it is persisting I would ask your gp. All the best op.
