Confused about whether I am post menopause. Which is a bit stupid I know

I’ve just turned 54. Been on HRT for 6 months. I didn’t have much in the way of very debilitating symptoms but wanted to use HRT for preventative benefits and because I was having the odd hot flush, some sleep issues and that was about it really. Was a bit achy perhaps too

Anyway, so I’ve be been on one pump of gel for the last 6 months and 12 days a month of progesterone. Has controlled any symptoms. I also use vaginal oestrogen

my libido has taken a hit so I asked my doctor for a testosterone test. She agreed but the nurse has done the wrong test so today I’ve had results for serum estradiol … and they’ve come back as <88 pmol /L which I understand now to be very low oestrogen and probably post menopause

Dunno what I expected really? Actually not that as I was expecting a testosterone result but meh.

so does this mean I’ve gone through the menopause? Prior to taking HRT I was still having periods albeit sparse and sometimes a few months between them

does it mean I’m not taking enough oestrogel? I don’t like to take more because A what I take controls my symptoms I believe and B I put on weight when I try to increase to 2 pumps. My BMI is 23 and I prefer it to stay that way ideally

just a bit confused!

Are you getting bleeds? I'm 54 and on 2 pumps and 1 progesterone per day, every day and hopefully no more bleeds. I had to keep tracking calories for a few months but weight has settled back down now.

i don’t get much on one pump of gel - literally some minor brownish staining for a day. But if I increase to 2 pumps I get a full proper period
