Mini pill no longer stopping bleeding

user65342 · 03/12/2025 13:25

I have been on the mini pill for many years and it always stopped my periods completely. However, in the last year or so I have started bleeding again, not regularly or particularly heavily most of the time. I thought that this could be due to perimenopause (I am in my late forties). Has anyone else experienced this and how far off your final period were you?

P.o.p was awful for me during peri, horrendous constant heavy bleeding so awful for 5 months solid that I ended up so anaemic I could barely stand.
Mirena was equally awful.
I went on to have a hysterectomy a couple of years later, so no idea how long it would have taken my periods to stop naturally, but I was early 40’s when the pill/coil issue happened.
