Is it time for HRT?

I’m 44. Started periods at 10 if that makes any difference.

My periods are all over the place. A few years ago I was pretty regular, 5 days of bleeding every 23-28 days with an occasional random short or long cycle.

Now my periods are totally unpredictable, I’m currently on day 40 and soooo late, sometimes I’ll come back on 6 days after finishing the last one.

I also constantly feel that due on inner RAGE. My husband says it’s like walking on egg shells around me.

Not really suffering from hot flashes, have had a couple at night but had also been drinking so put it down to that.

When I say I’m on day 40, I don’t mean day 40 of bleeding, I mean day 40 of cycle and I was ‘due on’ on around day 25

I started HRT at 44 and probably should have done it a year earlier. So I'd say go for it

I feel the same. I'm on day 35. Tested today because I've also gained several pounds over the last week, although I know, really, it is water weight, etc. I am convinced I could successfully rule the world, but I wouldn't be nice or tolerant about it. I'd get shit done, be awful and not care.

I'm 47.

Haha! I did a pregnancy test a couple of days ago as thought this is very very odd. Alas, I actually think I’m going through the change. Very depressing. I also feel murderous and my husband, kids, friends and work colleagues may very well divorce me soon

Hey sorry to jump on this, I’ve had a hysterectomy, had at 35, so I’m post menopausal now, currently fully reliant on HRT in pellet form and vaginal pessary.

from experience, get your bloods done and see your levels of hormones and talk to your doctor about it, there’s loads of different types of hrt now and you might only need a small amount to boost your levels. If they offer u the pill or coil decline it, in my opinion and from what I’ve seen from friends it can really mess things up. Good luck

Thank you so much. I have a telephone appt next week with the doctor and will ask about a blood test :)

Blood tests are not the gold seal. They are only reliable at giving a snapshot of hormones in that hour- not over the course of weeks and months. Ask your doctor to treat your symptoms, guidelines state this is best practice, and not to rely solely on bloods results.

Write a list of your symptoms/timeframes/etc to show them, and be prepared to stand your ground, as they will likely try to fob you off with antidepressants.
