Don’t understand the instructions

I’m changing from oestrogel to evorel patches. So , today instead of putting the gel on I’ve stuck a patch on. Can’t go wrong I thought. But.. reading the leaflet it says :
put an evorel patch on at the end of a treatment cycle or one week after you finish using another hrt product if :
. You are changing from an Hrt medicine that gives you a withdrawal bleed.

should I have waited ?
curremtly having headaches from hell and feeling crap probably due to having gone from evorel sequi to gel ,
up a dose, back down again and now patches within a few weeks.

Where were you in your 'cycle' on oestrogel? Do you still have periods so need progesterone as well for the 2nd half of your cycle?

I would've gone on to the patches but corresponding with where I was in my cycle, if that makes sense.
