Progesterone intolerance?

I’m 43 and have been taking HRT for around a month now.
For the first 2 weeks I was just using the Oestrogen gel and felt amazing, I’ve now added the progesterone pills (2 a day for 14 days and the side effects are horrible.
Really painful boobs.
Oily Skin
A rage like I’ve never experienced.. Particularly towards my poor husband.
Any noise he makes, chewing, sniffing, breathing to loud is making me want to rip my ears off and throw them at him.
I reacted similarly a few years ago when I had the coil fitted, I had it removed mainly because of the terrible skin it gave me.
Anybody else, does this mean I just won’t be able to have any HRT at all?

Following with interest / I have no answers, but EXACTLY the same is happening to me right now, pretty much word for word,
Also been on it about 5 weeks, and felt amazing on just the gel (to the point where I felt like I was coming up on an ecstasy pill, for want of a better description!)

Soon as I started the progesterone, same symptoms as you.
After suffering from acne most of my life, the only positive of being in peri had been that my skin had finally settled down over the last year, until now!
My chin is covered in spots, no sooner has one cleared, another appears 😩

@tigerbear
I had my hrt review today and was told progesterone intolerance is very common. I am now going to try on doctors advice the same Oestrogen gel but instead of progesterone I’m going to take a Yasmin pill every day. It hasn’t been licensed as HRT just as a contraceptive but my doctor said it will work in the same way but without the side effects, how are you doing now?

@LadyDarcy80s thats interesting.
I’ve been very up and done for the last few weeks, but seem to be feeling a lot more positive in the last day or two. Hopefully turning a corner!

I got very low on the progesterone so stopped after my 2nd month. I had headaches, sore boobs, vivid nightmares and felt so low.

I had the Mirena coil fitted a month ago and feel ok so far. I think the sudden influx of a lot of progesterone just was too much for my body to take at once.

I was using progesterone tablets reasonably well but swapped to patches as I work nights and kept forgetting to take the tablets.
i have had the most dreadful mood whilst using the patches a I feel like I want to kill everyone!!

Along with the painful breasts my main story side effect was a rage like I’d never felt before. I’ll post a google screenshot of what I’ve been prescribed now to take alongside the gel. I always set an alarm on my smartwatch to remind me to take medicine at night or I forget to.
