Estradiol vs estriol

I live overseas where menopause treatment is pretty poor, so I decided to have an online appointment to get a better idea of what I needed : to then take to my doctor here.

The online doctor recommended 100mg progesterone daily and estradiol gel.

My dr here says they don't have estradiol here (or any of the brand names: Divigel / estrogel etc). They only have estriol. She says they're the same, but I'm not sure. I thought one was just for dryness (estriol) and estradiol was for wider symptoms.

I'm most bothered about protecting against osteoporosis/ dementia. Will estriol do anything for that?

Thanks

For vaginal dryness there are Vagifem pessaries which are estradiol or there is estriol cream. I had a bad reaction to the estradiol but have found the estriol to be a life saver. The reason I’m saying this is that in my experience they were very different hormones x

Thanks, that's what I thought! I'll send a message and try and see if it's known as something else here
