Estrogen gel or patch hit you really quick with side effects?

Help ladies as I'm so confused..

So 3 menstrual periods ago I stuck on a sequential estrogen patch.
I'd been having some off balance feelings and doctor said maybe its peri..
I hadn't anything else apart from anxiety.
I'm just 44 & periods regular.
After putting the patch on I'd noticed a kind of high that afternoon whoosh to my head. Thst evening struggled to sleep & woke jittery..
That night after a bath the patch fell off & I thought do you know what I'll leave it as not hugely suffering..
Period ended & didn't put another patch on.
Around 5 days after out the blue had this very strange headrush watching tv & felt awful all night with head waves & pins & needles..
Do you think this could still be the patch? Surely not?
Anyway dr found nothing odd and had lots of tests and bloods.
The whole month though these surges to head like adrenaline kept waving over me..
Awful 😖
The next period came & Dr said try the gel I'd been feeling awful as said above but the gel again made me feel high and jittery that night & next day.
Next night another pump of gel & woke up to a full blown what i think panic attack, very awful..
Again stopped gel as was worried but again 2 nights later another very bad attack
Dr had no idea what it could be still and I was in a dark place I actually had an MRI scan which came bk normal.
Ecg normal & further bloods all normal.
Still head rushes and weird all month.
Period arrived yesterday & again Dr said use gel and try and stick with it.
Put gel on last night just 1 pump and again 4.30am highs and wired feeling and today had the surges again quite bad..
Do you ladies think this could be Peri attacks and surges and I need to stick this estrogen feeling out?
Or could this of started from the use of patches in the first place but seems severe for wearing 2 days..
I'm so worried what to do..
Ive been housebound pretty much cos of these awful feelings & so scared of the nighttime panick type feelings
Again maybe this is completely something different but doctors have no idea & say tests all ok & must be peri?

My understanding is that it’s progesterone that drops first in peri, maybe your oestrogen is still high and the additional gel/patch is making it even more unbalanced? I think too much oestrogen can cause as many issues as not enough!
What progesterone are you using?

I get terrible anxiety off oestrogel. I don't notice it as quickly as that tho

@user5972308467
Well you saying this is interesting as I had private bloods done a few weeks ago and I was ovulating at the time. My results were like 1100 estrogen which looked good my progesterone was 0.3 which was still ok but the lower end of ok..
So I dont know really how that works..

I hadn't anything else apart from anxiety.

I'm all for HRT when it's really needed and been on it for years.

However, I'm not convinced you need it just yet @Cbpoppy .
You've only got 1 symptom and it can be helped in other ways.

How would you describe the anxiety? What does it do, day to day?
The advice for anxiety if it's your only symptom is to consider CBT.
You can also try things like yoga, mindfulness, plenty of exercise etc. They can all help. he charity MIND has useful info on their website on this.

You can get this via your GP but the wait may be ages, or you can pay for it privately, or work on it yourself with online videos/ books etc.

It'll help you reframe your thoughts and manage your reactions to things you find stressful.

I'd forget about having blood tests for your hormones- waste of time, not relevant when you're having regular periods and not going to be useful in any way.

Maybe you need to wait for HRT if you start to miss periods, have flushes and night sweats, insomnia (IF they do!) and they become bad enough to affect your ability to function?

@JinglingSpringbells
Yes I'm with you but what had happened was I was diagnosed last year with MDDS an off balance condition that was brought on by travel.
Struggled to get myself to a decent place after that but was ok and my doctor thought hrt might help as this condition has a habit of being in peri aged women 40ish plus..
I never took it, this was last year..
I then started noticing my anxiety getting quite bad for not much reason & I'm on amitriptyline which had always worked well for anxiety due to this mdds.
I then noticed my periods would arrive 4,3,2 days early each month and the Dr said try the hrt...
Like I say only lasted 2days on the patch as I felt so intense on it..
The following week these what I think are head rush panic daily episodes started and were daily for 2 weeks & no idea why..
The Dr again said try hrt in gel when period arrives..
Period arrived and felt awful as the headrushes were more intense which obviously the hormones reacting I guess, put the gel on for 2 nights & had a full blown what I think panic attack called 111 followed by another so again stopped the gel..
Spent this whole month battling these feelings again & hardly been out thinking I dont know what these are, if its hormones related, hrt side effects from the odd day I did try them?
Tests are were ok.
Think maybe i need to have a cycle with no hrt and see what happens with these feelings as its so hard to know. If this hasn't been peri then I have no.idea why theyve started..
Thanks for the reply
