Im not on HRT but im often sore or itchy around there. I used sudocrem which seems to help a lot.

StrongLikeMamma · 14/10/2025 18:44

Try a different product?

Chazbots · 14/10/2025 18:44

Doesn't sound like menopause to me, more like you have a uti or something?

TheAutumnCrow · 14/10/2025 18:44

I think you should try using Estriol every day.

MultiFucktional · 14/10/2025 18:45

Have you been examined to check you don’t have lichen sclerosis? It’s pretty common during menopause unfortunately, and can be sore.
Have you had a urine sample tested to rule out UTI?
Keep a diary to see if there’s anything that triggers the urination.
Do you do PVE? I actually stop drinking around 5/6pm, but don’t drink much after around 4ish at all, and no caffeine after 12pm. I think it helps a little.

Try a thick sanitary towel and a cushion between your legs for support. I find I get a bit like this if I forget to do my pelvic floor exercises too, perhaps doing them more often might help.

I really do sympathise, it's painful. The longer you can go between urinating, the better your bladder will be, but it is rotten and uncomfortable to fix.

Any burning or stinging needs to be looked at, it could be a UTI.

I think you should try using Estriol every day.- can this be taken daily ?

That's a low dose of Oestrogen - both patch form and cream. I would up to 100 if able and try daily cream.

If no improvement after a month or two, get GP to do a physical exam & refer you perhaps to the Bladder team.

I have been through similar but different. Any other symptoms? Any leaks etc?

What's your fluid intake like, esp caffeine? General Health, exercise levels?

Another vote for daily use. I've been on daily use for several years now.

Daisydoesnt · 15/10/2025 13:46

I swear by Epaderm- to shower with, and also to use as a moisturiser

TheLurpackYears · 15/10/2025 13:51

Id go back to the loading does of Estridiol, and whack some in externally too.
You could request increasing your patch strength too, getting the right patch really helped my urinary symptoms too.
Have you been tested for blood sugars recently? Weeing and uncomfortable genitals can be symptoms of t2diabetes.

NorthSouthEast · 15/10/2025 13:53

Do you drink alcohol? Cut this out entirely for a week or so if so, as well as trying the suggestions above!

EgregiouslyOverdressed · 15/10/2025 13:53

Consider seeing a specialist pelvic physiotherapist (you will probably have to go private, I'm afraid) to see if you have a prolapse, especially if you have ever had children. Frequent urination may be a sign that the bladder is not emptying properly due to cystocele.

BamberGirl · 15/10/2025 14:05

What @MultiFucktionalsays…
I have this, extremely sore as wee touches the raw patches. Totally dealt with by a topical steroid, in addition to HRT and oestrogen pessary.

Gloriia · 15/10/2025 18:43

As others have said always rule out a uti first. So very common once in peri then meno. Often recurrent too.

It's handy to have some dipsticks at home to check for nitrites, if positive drop a yellow top sample at your gps. UTIs can just cause night time pu'ing and frequency without all the usual expected signs like pain and burning.

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 15/10/2025 18:55

Look up Dr Amir Khan on Instagram.( The one from Bradford who appears on Lorraine and GP behind closed doors) he's done a video on this and recommends estrogen cream.
I use it for my vaginal dermatitis.. UTI's and bladder incontinence.. it really helps.
I use a clean finger instead of the tube.. to insert the cream and apply all around the area.

Yes it can. You need to be using it on your urethral area as well as inserting it into your vagina. Google where the urethra is and apply a tiny amount of esttiol every time you insert. ALL vaginal tissue and vulval tissues have oestrogen receptors so it all ‘dries out’. It’s needed everywhere down there. Your urethral opening also changes position post menopause so this can lead to incomplete emptying too
