Hi, I’m a 52 year old women and still have periods. Always the same time with cycle and no
change since I was a teenager. I got my period yesterday and today is the heaviest I ever been. Like really heavy! Clots. Changing tampax ever 1 and a half hours. This is not like me at all. I’ve read that this is normal for perimenopause. Has anyone else experienced this? Ty x

I had periods up to age 56. Regular but heavy for at least previous 8 years. I was unaware at the time as I had no telltale signs such as hot flushes or insomnia but now know, due to increased education and awareness, that it was perimenopause. Additional symptoms were rages, mood swings, muscle and joint aches.
When periods stopped the symptoms seemed to settle down but the brain fog came along so insidiously I barely noticed I was struggling to function until it was pointed out to me by a family member who had watched the Davina McColl documentary.
If I’d known I’d have started HRT sooner.

yes!!! My hips, sweats, mood swings. Ty for your reply. Was really worried as I never ever bleed so heavily with clots (they are only small) I needed a little reassurance ❤️

I would speak to your doctor about it. It might be 'just' menopause but it may not.

I had fibroids but my periods got increasingly heavy, so bad that I became anaemic. Then after a weekend of unexpected excruciating pain I got diagnosed with adenomyosis. Had a mirena coil fitted and happily that has sorted it.

Didn't particularly have any other peri issues.

I was 54 then, 57 now. Hopefully am now actually menopausal but obvs can't tell with the coil in.

Most definitely experienced the same as you I was menopausal at the late age of 58/59 after years of having periods every 5 weeks I went to the more normal every 4 weeks and they were very heavy and I had to use tampax and pads. It did pass eventually and the only other symptoms I have experienced were night sweats.
