I finally had the conversation with my GP, and have been prescribed oestrogen spray and utrogestan tablets. Am 47 and very much in perimenopause, and it’s taken me a while to go for hrt as I’m anxious about taking hormones (never got on well with the pill). My actual periods are pretty erratic, however I track my symptoms using clue and still have a fairly regular ‘cycle’ - by this I mean that I have all the usual symptoms throughout the month that I used to have (feeling good during first two weeks, sharp pain at ovulation, feeling progressively worse as it comes up to the time when my period would be due), I just don’t seem to have the bleed every month like
i used to. My question is - I feel like my period would be due within the next week. Should I start taking the hrt straightaway (so 2 weeks of the spray and then the 2 weeks of progesterone), or would it be better to work with what’s left of my natural cycle and start when my period would be due (whether it actually starts or not)? Or does it not matter?
