Sequential combined HRT

I'm looking for some advice please.

I've recently been prescribed sequential combined HRT and was told to wait until the first day of my period to start. Well, today's the day!

I rubbed in the gel this morning. I was told by my GP to take the progesterone tablets from the start of my period for 15 days so it's easy to remember. Were you advised to do that?

The leaflet says take it from day 15. I thought the point of the progesterone was to prevent over- build up of the utereus lining so it would make sense to take them then I think. I'm a bit confused. Any guidance welcome. Thank you!

I was advised that and yet the prescription said 100mg from day 1. So I did from day 15 and found it tough going doing 2 (made me very shaky) so I tried vaginally (not condoned but I used exactly the same for IVF vaginally so….

If I were to do it again I’d do 5- 10 days of gel one pump and see how I felt, wait for normal period and then next month do 1 pump gel and one progesterone from day 15-30 and then continue. It’s a big jump. I felt GREAT on oestrogen, awful on progesterone, but by month three was loving the progesterone but I now take it orally just before bed (2 hours after eating g at least or it will make you feel ill) days 1-20.

The thing I didn’t know is that it’s not that yo u have ‘run out’ of hormones, it’s that they are erratic and your body is trying to compensate for those spikes. When you take HRT it’s regular but your body at first will also react to that.

Play about with it and give it 3 months. Build up slowly. If you’re having regular periods you are still shedding the uterine lining so don’t worry too much about that. It’s 3months + where it starts to become a problem.

The important thing is to keep to the same DATE each month regardless of your own periods.

You can't coincide your own periods with HRT because eventually your periods will be all over the place and you will go weeks or months without one.

HRT resets a cycle.

If you want to wait till 15 days from now, do that, but whatever that DATE is, start the next progesterone on that DATE.
