Hi

I am approaching 51 and on Combined Pill Microgynon for the last 10 years.
Thankfully in good health, fit, weight and blood pressure ok
I have backed to back Microgynon for 3 months at a time or a get breakthrough bleeding any longer after that.
Do not know if hit Menopause or not.
GP advising advice is to change to progesterone only pill.
I note WHO guidance is not recommended , In America say not just age
I used to only have a 21 day cycle
from what a read the progesterone only pill will cause bleeding as well
does anyone have any experience of changing from combined pill to progesterone only or any other advice?
I am away of other birth control barrier methods
thanks in advance

I think I've been on it approx 25 years
Never had any bleeding..
I think it regulates any PMT
I'm definitely in no rush to come of it

I had to come off the combined pill at 40, went on POP about 2 years later as periods were getting very close together. That was 10 years ago, I haven’t bled at all in that time & as pp said, I think it has helped with peri / menopause symptoms. I expect if I came off it now all hell would break loose! I also plan to stay on it until the max age of 55.
