Not peri-menopausal but… (a bit TMI)

I’m 42. No (other?) peri symptoms. For the past six months or so I have my regular period that lasts for five days. Then it stops and a day or two later I get another two to three days of light bleeding.

Here’s the TMI part- it’s fresh/red bleeding (for my usual period, it’s usually brown spotting by days four and five).

Has anyone experienced similar?

My periods were all like this from my 30s. Except shorter. 2 days on, then nothing for a day or two, then another 2 days. I’m sure someone told me at the time that this was quite common and there was some benign reason for it, maybe to do with uterus shape or something? But that may have been nonsense.

Once it became an established pattern it was easier to anticipate.

FWIW I have always had pretty light periods.

Thanks @VoltaireMittyDream(great username!). Being a woman is just joyous, isn’t it?

It’s just so annoying because the second period bit doesn’t happen every month. My period stopped on Friday and I flew away on holiday on Saturday and was delighted to not have to deal with cramps, sanitary protection etc while I was away. Was so annoyed on Sunday when it reappeared.

Yes and this was the start of peri-menopause for me (late 30's and mother had no menopause symptoms until her 50's). They eventually went completely nuts - irregular, flooding, clots, red blood, dark blood.
